A revolution is occurring in the 21st Century classroom! Teachers and students are finding ways to take advantage of the plethora of affordable new mobile electronic devices including iPads, Netbooks, cell phones, eReaders and iPods. Technology can now move out of the restrictions of the computer lab and into classrooms, playgrounds, sports stadiums, excursions; wherever the students and teachers wish to go.

Prensky (2001) wants educators to know; "Our students have changed radically. Today's students are no longer the people our educational system was designed to teach" (p. 1). Prensky claims that students are more engaged in their learning when using the latest technology because they are used to interacting with these devices.

This website investigates the impact of technology on the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics not least what the research says about the importance of teacher competency with the technology and how to effectively use it in teaching. The site will investigate examples of best practice in the use of multimedia in science and mathematics education.

In order to facilitate improvement in the way teachers and schools utilise multimedia, a personal development plan will address the best ways to go about this. Teachers should become experts in choosing and using multimedia to enhance students' learning.

Lastly, the site will look at possible future directions and developments in multimedia that will for teachers and students enhance and enrich Science and Mathematics education.
